Lovable tells you what it costs to build an app. It does not tell you what a live app costs to run. There is no published price per hour for its Cloud instances, no rate per GB, and the bill arrives as credits rather than dollars. So we collected what is public: Lovable’s own pricing and docs, the official prices of the alternatives, and 24 cost reports from builders who shared their numbers. Then we turned them into a monthly estimate at 0, 100, 1,000 and 10,000 users, with every assumption visible.

0.15 → 29
credits a day: the range of Lovable Cloud run costs that builders reported for live projects in 2026. At the Pro rate of $0.25 a credit, that is about $1 to $217 a month. The free monthly grant covers 20 credits, worth about $5.

Key takeaways

  • → A Lovable credit is worth $0.25 on Pro and $0.50 on Business. Top-ups cost $0.30 and $0.60, so they are 20% more expensive. (Lovable docs)
  • → Every plan gets a monthly grant of 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits, which Lovable calls temporary. It replaced the earlier $25 Cloud balance, so the free allowance fell by about 80%. (Lovable docs, Totalum)
  • → Builders’ run costs vary nearly 200-fold: from 0.15 credits a day for a quiet project to 28.98 a day for a busy production app. A background job running every 5 seconds alone pushed one project to 1.86 a day. (r/lovable)
  • → Our estimate for running costs on Lovable Cloud, on top of a $25 Pro plan: about $0–9 at 0 users, $0–11 at 100 users, $14–26 at 1,000 users and roughly $171–184 at 10,000 users. The 10,000-user figure is an extrapolation, not a measurement. (method below)
  • → When credits run out, your site stays online but the backend can pause, and topping up does not wake it: you have to click Wake up. Storage keeps billing while a project is paused. (Lovable docs)

1How Lovable charges for a running app

A live Lovable app costs nothing to host by itself. What costs money is Lovable Cloud (database, storage, compute, network, realtime) and AI features in your app. Both are paid in credits from the same balance you use to build. Every plan gets a monthly grant of 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits; anything above that comes out of your plan credits or top-ups.

Lovable lists six things Cloud bills on: database server, database storage, network, file storage, compute and realtime (Lovable docs). It publishes no unit rate for any of them. For instance sizes, from Tiny to X-Large, the app only shows an “Estimated cost” per size; the hourly prices are not in the documentation. The sizes were renamed on July 31, 2026, with hourly prices unchanged (Lovable docs). AI usage is billed on the underlying model provider’s costs (Lovable AI docs).

What a credit costs follows from the plan price. Pro starts at $25 for 100 credits a month, Business at $50 for 100 credits; Lovable itself uses $0.25 and $0.50 as the “plan credit rate” (Lovable docs). Larger tiers are slightly cheaper per credit: 2,000 Pro credits cost $480 ($0.24 each) and 10,000 cost $2,250 ($0.225 each) (Lovable subscription plans).

2What builders actually pay: 24 reported numbers

Builders reported Lovable Cloud run costs from 0.15 credits a day for a quiet project to 28.98 credits a day for a busy production app. Typical small projects landed between 1.85 and 2.67 credits a day, about $14 to $20 a month. The surprises came from background jobs, local development against the Lovable database, and AI features without limits.

One detail stands out. Several builders reported that their daily use jumped on June 18, 2026. One wrote that a project using about 0.15 credits a day went to “~1.85 credits/day and it has remained almost perfectly constant ever since” (r/lovable). Another found the cause in their own project: a dev copy with a tiny database used 1.86 credits a day because of an email queue job running every 5 seconds, while the production app used 0.15 (r/lovable). Lovable does not auto-pause projects that have scheduled jobs (Lovable docs).

3Monthly cost at 0, 100, 1,000 and 10,000 users

Running costs on Lovable Cloud, before AI features and on top of your plan: about $0–9 a month at 0 users, $0–11 at 100 users, $14–26 at 1,000 users and roughly $171–184 at 10,000 users. With the $25 Pro plan you need for a custom domain, that is about $25–34, $25–36, $39–51 and $196–209. The 10,000-user tier is extrapolated from smaller apps.
Users / month Run credits / month Above 20-credit grant Running cost With Pro plan ($25) Evidence
0 (prototype) 4.5–56 0–36 $0–9 $25–34 Measured (2 reports)
100 12–63 0–43 $0–11 $25–36 Base burn + 1 report
1,000 75–126 55–106 $14–26 $39–51 One report ($35 / 2,000)
10,000 705–756 685–736 $171–184 $196–209 Scenario (extrapolated)

Method: base burn of 0.15 to 1.86 credits a day (× 30), plus $0.0175 per monthly user, the rate implied by the report of $35 for about 2,000 users (= 0.07 credits per user). Minus the 20-credit grant, valued at $0.25 per credit (Pro). Excludes AI features, build credits and file storage beyond the default. Rounded.

How much weight each row can carry differs. The 0-user row rests on two measurements, roughly 12 times apart. The 100- and 1,000-user rows add one data point about users. For 10,000 users we found no public Lovable Cloud bill at all, so that row multiplies the per-user rate. It lands close to the one busy production report we have: 28.98 credits a day is about 869 credits, or $217, a month (r/lovable). Treat it as a planning range, not a quote. The method also leans high: the $35 report already includes that app’s own base burn, which we add again.

Derived from r/lovable, January 2026

Third-party estimates do not settle it either. Momen’s example table, which is sometimes attributed to Lovable but does not appear in Lovable’s current docs, puts Cloud at $5 for a 5,000-visit small business site and $65 for a 10,000-visitor shop (Momen). Hatchworks gives $0–100 a month for a prototype, $100–500 for an MVP and $500–2,000+ for production, across all vibe-coding tools (Hatchworks). Neither publishes its method.

4Calculator: estimate your own app

Enter your monthly users and how your project runs. The calculator uses the same method as the table above, and lets you replace our per-user assumption with your own number from Lovable’s usage page. It also shows what the same app would cost on your own Supabase project with free static hosting.

Lovable running cost calculator

Lovable: (base credits/day × 30 + users × credits per user) minus the 20-credit Cloud grant, plus AI credits minus the 4-credit AI grant, times your credit price. Credit amounts are in Pro credits; a Business credit is worth twice as much, so Business deducts half as many. The Free plan cannot buy credits: above the grant, the backend pauses instead. Own stack: Supabase Free ($0) up to 50,000 monthly active users if you accept no backups and a pause after a week of inactivity; otherwise Supabase Pro at $25, plus $0.00325 per user above 100,000. Hosting on Cloudflare Pages Free. Build credits are not included. Estimates only; your Lovable usage page shows your real numbers.

The biggest bills had a handful of causes. Here is how to keep yours in check.

5Why Lovable bills spike, and how to cap them

The big bills in our dataset have four causes: background jobs that keep the backend busy around the clock, local development against the live Lovable database, AI features without usage limits, and larger instance sizes. Lovable’s own controls help: the Optimize your usage button, the auto top-up spend limit, and pausing projects you are not using.
  1. Look for scheduled jobs. A job every few seconds keeps compute busy and stops Lovable’s auto-pause; that is how a dev project with almost no traffic reached 1.86 credits a day (r/lovable).
  2. Do not develop locally against production. One builder warned that a few days of heavy IDE work against the Lovable-hosted database “can mean $25–35+ in Lovable Cloud costs” (r/lovable).
  3. Put limits on AI features. The largest bill we found, about $4,000 in about two hours, came from a private app; BigIdeasDB attributes it to an uncapped AI API combined with a stuck browser tab (BigIdeasDB).
  4. Use Optimize your usage. Lovable shows this button when a project used more than 5 run credits in 7 days (Lovable docs).
  5. Check your auto top-up limit. The defaults are 100 credits per top-up, triggered below 25 credits, with a monthly limit of 400 credits, about $120 at the top-up price (Lovable docs).
  6. Keep the instance size small until you need more. Larger instances cost more credits per hour, and the in-app estimate is the only price shown.

What happens if you run out: the published site stays live, in-app AI stops, and Cloud-backed apps can pause. A paused backend does not wake up when you add credits; you click Wake up yourself. Lovable can also pause a project for “excessive Cloud usage”, and adding credits does not resume it. Storage keeps billing while a project is paused (Lovable docs).

6Is it cheaper to run outside Lovable Cloud?

Usually yes at scale, not always when small. Supabase Free plus a free static host costs $0, but pauses after a week of inactivity and has no backups. A production setup with Supabase Pro starts at $25 a month and covers 100,000 monthly active users. With Vercel Pro for commercial hosting, the floor is $45 a month. You still pay Lovable for building.

At 10,000 users the difference is clear: our Lovable Cloud scenario lands around $171–184 a month in run costs, while Supabase Pro includes 100,000 monthly active users for $25 plus compute. A Supabase Small instance costs about $15 a month, of which the $10 compute credit covers $10 (Supabase docs). One example found the Micro size fine until about 2,000 daily active users with heavy dashboard queries (Cotera). At 0 to 100 users, the 20-credit grant often makes Lovable Cloud the cheaper option.

Moving is a manual job with limits: the export covers databases up to 15 GB, one export per 24 hours. Our Lovable Cloud vs Supabase guide covers the migration step by step, and the Lovable hosting guide covers where to host the frontend.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Lovable Cloud cost?

Lovable Cloud is billed in credits from your workspace balance, worth $0.25 each on Pro. Every plan gets 20 Cloud credits a month free. Builders report quiet projects using 0.15 to about 2.7 credits a day, and a busy production app about 29 a day. Lovable publishes no hourly rates per instance size. Sources: Lovable docs, Lovable credits.

What does one Lovable credit cost?

$0.25 on Pro and $0.50 on Business, the rate Lovable itself uses. Top-up credits cost $0.30 and $0.60. Larger Pro tiers go down to $0.225 per credit at 10,000 credits a month. Sources: Lovable credits docs, subscription plans.

What happens when my Lovable credits run out?

Your published site stays live, but AI features stop and the Cloud backend can pause. Adding credits does not restart a paused backend; click Wake up. Storage is still billed while paused. Source: Lovable docs.

How many credits does a live Lovable app use per month?

Reported figures range from about 4.5 credits a month (0.15 a day) for a quiet project to about 870 a month for a busy production app. A small project with a scheduled job used about 56 a month in one report. The 20-credit grant covers about 0.67 credits a day. Sources: r/lovable, Lovable docs.

Is the Supabase free tier enough for 1,000 users?

For user counts, yes: it includes 50,000 monthly active users. The real limits are 500 MB of database, 5 GB of egress, no backups and a pause after a week of inactivity. For a production app, Supabase Pro at $25 a month is the safer choice. Source: Supabase pricing.

Is it cheaper to move off Lovable Cloud?

At low traffic, often not: the free grant can cover a small app. At thousands of users, usually yes: Supabase Pro covers 100,000 monthly active users for $25 plus compute. You keep paying Lovable for building either way. Sources: Supabase, Lovable docs.

Did Lovable used to give $25 of free Cloud usage?

Yes. Workspaces had a $25 monthly Cloud balance and $1 for AI. These were converted into the current 20 Cloud and 4 AI credit grants, worth about $5 and $1 at the Pro rate. Some sites still quote the old $25. Sources: Totalum, Lovable docs.

About this data

We combined three kinds of sources: Lovable’s own pricing page and documentation; the official pricing pages of Supabase, Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare, Hostinger, Resend and Stripe; and 24 cost reports from builders, mostly on Reddit (one from a Facebook group, and one without a dollar figure) (r/lovable, r/Supabase), plus the BigIdeasDB compilation. Reddit quotes come from search results because the threads could not be opened directly; they are self-reported and unaudited.
